Meeting Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin
On January 14, 2011, my family and I attended a meeting of the Peninsula Astronomical Society at Foothill College.
The main speaker was Dr. Pascal Lee talking about his work in Devon Island in the Canadian Arctic developing and testing technologies that will be used on Mars bound missions.
A surprise addition was Dr. Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin who also attended and spoke.
Buzz Aldrin, was the Lunar Module pilot on the historic Apollo 11 mission, that landed men on the moon for the first time in history on July 20, 1969. He was the second human to set foot on the moon and one out of only 12 people to ever walk on the moon.
We were all extremely excited about the unique opportunity to meet such an exceptional person.
Top picture on the right shows my daughter Ronnie with Buzz and Dr. Pascal Lee, the lower picture on the right has yours truly shaking hands with the Buzz.
It was a night to remember!
